Over 3,000 labourers stranded in UP, Punjab arrive in Chhattisgarh

Two Shramik special trains brought back over 3,000 migrants including labourers, students to Chhattisgarh from Amritsar and Lucknow on Wednesday.

Over 2000 people of Chhattisgarh, who were stranded in Uttar Pradesh, alighted at Raipur, Bilaspur and Bhatapara railway stations after the Shramik special train from arrived from Lucknow in UP.
RAIPUR: Two Shramik special trains brought back over 3,000 migrants including labourers, students to Chhattisgarh from Amritsar and Lucknow on Wednesday.
Over 2000 people of Chhattisgarh, who were stranded in Uttar Pradesh, alighted at Raipur, Bilaspur and Bhatapara railway stations after the Shramik special train from arrived from Lucknow in UP. As many as 57 passengers of five districts of Chhattisgarh including workers, students and others who alighted at Raipur station.

These 57 passengers were from various districts including four from Raipur, 14 from Durg, one from Dhamtari, nine from Rajnandgaon and 29 from Mahasamund district respectively. Besides, state capital, the train also halted at Bhatapara before heading for Bilaspur.
In Bilaspur railway station, 800 labourers alighted, including 148 labourers from Bilaspur, 407 from Mungeli, 69 from Janjgir-Champa and 176 from Korba district.
While in Bhatapara railway station, 1200 migrant labourers alighted, which includes 800 from Bemetra, 359 from Kabirdham and 41 from Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara districts. Besides, another Shramik special train reached Janjgir-Champa railway station on Wednesday late night from Amritsar, carrying around 1,208 migrants, who were stranded in Punjab. After medical screening at the railway stations, people were sent to their districts by buses and they will be kept in quarantine centres for 14 days as a precautionary measure against coronavirus spread.
Shramik special trains carrying migrant labourers and people in distress and need of urgent medical care will arrive in Chhattisgarh on May 15 and 17 from Lucknow in UP and one train from Muzaffarpur in Bihar on May 16.
